Use an AutoResponder?

What IS An AutoResponder?

It's magic, that's what it is!!

Basically, an autoresponder is a feature or service that allows you to generate AUTOMATIC responses whenever someone emails an address you give them. (They can also sign up via a web form - you've probably seen more than your fair share of those!)

Autoresponders are often used by people when they are away from home or away from the office, to let people know that (a) there will be a delay in responding or (b) to contact another address.

For your purposes, though, it is better to think about it as a BUSINESS TOOL. You can automate responses to such things as pricing queries or requests for information. Better still, you can fill an autoresponder with a series of emails (a newsletter, tipsheet, mini-course etc) giving people information they WANT.

Once people sign up for your ezine/mini-course or whatever, you can also advertise products for sale, or products for which you are an affiliate.

Here are some good ways to use an autoresponder:

  1. To collect names and email addresses in exchange for some information (via a report, short course, PDF document, e-book or whatever.)

  2. To publish a price list for all your products and services. You can, of course, include sales material with this.

  3. If you're offering a service or tuition, use it for training. You can point out common problems, or point out the advantages of working with you.

  4. Use an autoresponder to answer frequently asked questions. This could save you a lot of time with phone calls or email responses to questions. Time is money!

  5. Pre-Sell your product or service by offering a free report, giving useful advice that shows your expertise - and shows people why they'd want to work with you or invest money with you.

  6. Offer a sample chapter or sample section of your ebook. Make it so enticing that subscribers will be keen to order the whole thing!

  7. Put your CV, testimonials or bio in an autoresponder. With one quick email reporters, employers or potential clients can have all the information they need.

  8. Put a year's worth of articles in an autoresponder, set to go out once every week or two (depending on how many you have to offer.) You can also create a mini-course with 6-10 sample articles from your ezine/newsletter.

The above suggestions all relate to business, but don't overlook its uses on a personal level, either! You can use an autoresponder for entertaining travel stories, an ongoing story for children, to remind yourself about upcoming birthdays, a countdown to a family reunion or a wedding... there are countless uses for this useful service.

Really, I don't know how anyone in business survives without an autoresponder!
